Hi Guys,
Eight years ago, my stepson rehomed a pug. Brian (the Pug), quickly became a vital part of the family, everyone loves him. As a result myself and Mrs.Chips quickly decided that, when we retired, we would also have a pug. We’ve been saving for some time now and have enough money, but a few months ago we decided that we would contact a pug charity and go for a rehomed pug. We are prepared to have one which is between 3-5 years old, is a pug/pug cross and may/may not, have an existing medical condition, which the charity would insure.
So, now I’ve retired. Mrs.Chips is working part-time, we are waiting for the home inspection from the pug charity. Everything seems straightforward. However, on Tuesday, we were offered the opportunity to have a pug x French bulldog puppy. The puppies were a surprise, from an “unregulated” mating. The owners of the bh are offering the puppies free to good homes and we are torn between our original plan and the thought of a puppy.
I would be grateful for any positive/constructive comments to try and help us with our dilemma. Does one of our alternatives stand out as being more sensible than the other? Which would give us and the dog the greatest benefit?
Thanks for taking the time to read this post. wavey

Puppies will find new homes much more easily and quickly, go for the rehome thumbup

They shouldn't do free to good home does run risk of someone taking pup on a whim without looking into the breeds health issues.

For me- pick your breed and look to that bred rescue. BUT sometimes you might wait a long time for a bred rescue to come up.. I lost a Cairn and waited months. Then one day out of the blue at a RSPCA kennels , madam spotted us. Sometimes just looking in rescue centres, a dog will decide that you are /will be it's owner ( or in dog world- that dog wants to own you).
Could you rsist the look on this dog face when it spotted you.
