Speaking to my parents recently and they were telling me that they found an intact (still warm) white egg in the house, that could only have been brought in by the cat. They have found a few others around the outside of the house, mostly also intact apart from one with a small bit mark in it.

Presumably these are pigeon eggs (a little smaller than a chicken egg, and good few pigeons around), although any nest must be at least 25 metres from the house.

Their cat is a mischevious so and so, who does target the local small bird population to a degree, but previous cats have never sbeen seen with eggs before. Also puzzled how he has managed to actually carry or move the eggs intact the distances he has - he does not look big enough to grab it in his mouth.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before?

My Priya brought in eggs fairly regularly, amongst other things.

8ft length of rope was the oddest thing, but also nerf gun pellets, (singular) gloves and another cat's toys.

She even managed to get out of a cat flap while wearing one of those cones after she had surgery...

Don't know about eggs, but you'd be amazed at what a cat can pick up without damaging it.

One of ours brought a very large goldfish back to the house. Still alive and without a mark on it.

I was on a Skype conference at the time and had to excuse myself to get it back into some water before it died!

The 2 cats that used to live in my house would bring in undamaged eggs they stole from nests in the trees in the neighbouring garden, they were litter brothers and half Norwegian Forest Cat so excellent climbers

Not as unusual as I thought then. Shame he is not big and ugly enough to take the local gull eggs!

Ours did the old trick of picking up big spiders and gently keeping them in her mouth before jumping up on the sofa and dropping them in my lap. eek
