Anyone tried these?
We have an over excitable rescue, we'd use in conjunction with training. Hoping it would help reduce stress a little, in conjuction with other stratagies, so we can manage the trigger points.

I've never used tablets. There's a plug-in diffuser product called pet remedy which seems to help in some situations.

Think my mum and dad used it without much change, but not sure they used anything long enough to really judge.

I've always preferred the plug in (Adaptil) and DAP collar.

I've used these with great effect - make sure you find the ones that are actually a licensed medicine from Dorwest Herbs - you do need to use them for a good 4 - 6 weeks to get the best effect from them and be consistent. Don't expect one dose to change things, and most importantly do speak to Dorwest if you have any questions regarding dosage etc..

Thanks, Dorwest are the ones we ordered. Only been using of the last 24hrs, combining with training and positive reinforcement.

Hi, I have had some success with Valerian but not with the Skullcap & Valerian tablets. They take a while to build up in the system - they told me 5-6 weeks when I spoke to them about the dosage - (they are super helpful if you want to talk about anything) and can be tricky to pinpoint the right amount.

Dorwest also do a Valerian liquid (without the Skullcap) which acts much faster with my guys - same day. It is very bitter to taste but mine are foodies so not hard to get them to consume it. The other thing I have found brilliant is the Adaptil Express tablets - especially for speed of results. I have it in my dog first aid box with me always and if anything happens to make the dog stress (like an unexpected crow scarer or even a scary moment with another dog). I use it on bonfire night, sometimes travelling.

If your dog is taking any medication then ask your vet - I know it doesn't go well with a couple of things that are used for behaviour medcation, (*think* it is Fluoxetine but not sure.).

Another thing might be to find a trainer who can help you with teaching your dog some impulse control exercises or calming techniques so your dog can get more out of your training sessions. Sometimes if they just don't know how to wind down, it hampers their learning and your efforts to do anything are a much harder - because they aren't concentrating when they are like that. (I've been there and had a couple in my classes like that). It is hard when they are like that but you can overcome with patience. Good luck smile
