OH took our westie to the Vet this morning as he's not been quite right recently, she came home a while later shaking like a leaf.

Our 11yr old little rascal has had a rough couple of years with various things but it looks like his troubles could have to be put behind him & we have to make 'that' decision.

Still getting over the guilt of making 'that' decision for our spaniel over 2yrs ago, despite it being the right thing to do.

Life is st sometimes, really, really st.

Sorry to read about your Westie.

It is always a bad time when you have to make the decision

So sorry to hear this. You will know when the time is right and of course in the meantime you will make the most of the time.

So very sorry. Always a horrendous thing to do, even when there is really no option.

I've said it several times before, but when the time comes, get two injections. One to send to sleep... then once under, the lethal one.

Don't go straight to lethal.

Thats what our spaniel had.

That awful conversation with the kids this evening, calling vet tomorrow.

Getting them to come to us, the hes always hated the vets!

This is the stty part of owning a dog , but remember you have to do what's best for the dog not what's best for us humans .

Tomorrow afternoon it is.

Taking him out for a meal tonight, a nice steak should be a good send off, especially as he can't eat tomorrow.

Same here.

I've had to make the decision to have a cat and a dog PTS, however neither were "planned", they just happened, I don't know whats worse, knowing it is coming or making that instant decision.

Thanks all.

He had a great night last night.

Today he’s been in the fields & to the beach & had an ice cream then got a new squeaky toy (which he’s destroyed hehe).

Next couple of hours are quiet chill out time.

Sorry to hear. Just thinking about it happening to either of ours (14 month Labradoodle and a 15 (estimated..he was a rescue) year old King Charles) would be heartbreaking so can totally imagine how you feel.

Glad you are making the most of the day.

Thanks for the kind messages, he’s out of pain now.

His last minutes were under his favourite tree in the garden surrounded by his family.

My condolences. I'm sure if he could, he'd thank you.
