Doubt.

I was in saint ives we just got a spot roast chicken mostly ate it so was pretty much just bones seagull swooped down and took it. Got lower and lower but wouldn’t let go smashed into a wall.

Even that small dog is going to weigh more than a mostly eaten hollow chicken

Unless the bird in the BBC story was Steven Seagull, then it could easily carried Gizmo away.....

Sad story if true and all that but:

“My baby is still missing. Doesn’t feel right not waking up to him licking my face.”

That's horrible, I can think of nothing worse that being woken by a dog licking my face or even licking it at any other time. Dogs lick their own arses in case anyone hasn't noticed vomit Also shouldn't be allowed in bedrooms.

Fully grown gulls are surprisingly big bd things. The dog was little bigger than a rat. So it’s quite plausible.

I've seen videos of an eagle carrying a goat, I'm sure the biggest Great Backed-backed Gull could manage a farty little mutt.

If a dog gets picked up and carried away by a sea gull, then it was never a proper dog in the first place.

There is video of a black backed gull swallowing a young wild rabbit whole so sadly this is entirely possible with a tiny chihuahua though unusual. Let's just hope the gull dropped the dog and it is found soon.

When we first moved to Brixham, our cat at the time was a tiny thing, she was on a shed roof and we saw a seagull swoop down and make a grab for her. Freaked her out she'd only seen starlings and blackbirds up until then!

Great black back gulls are huge, about one and a half tines the size of a standard Herring gull

Here is the video. Distressing if you like rabbits.Btw no such bird as a seagull. There are various types of gull but not one is known as a seagull.

Perfectly possible. Great Black Backed Gull has a wingspan of around 5'6", and eat rats whole.
