I’m normally good at identifying birds, but I was stumped yesterday.

Small bird, a bit bigger than a thrush, smaller than a pigeon, white with grey splodges along its wings and light grey on its head.

It was picking things out of a grass verge next to a feild in a fairly rural part of Oxfordshire. Not shy, I drove past it 4 times before it flew away, sadly the road was too busy to get my camera on it.

I thought it was a wader at first (quite close to the Thames) or a wrong magpie ...it had that sort of body shape. The closest I can find is a small gull (in pic) but that’s not it.

Any help would be great as it’s driving me mad!!,
