Just seen my 1st one of these, flitting about on some valerian. Fascinating.

They're lovely, I've had to save a couple of them in France when they got caught on some flowers.

I managed to get a video of one a couple of years ago, fluttering around the flowers in one of our window boxes. Beautiful creatures.

Thanks, that video is in slo-mo, so you can really see how fast their wings beat. That was the first time we saw one too.

I saw a hummingbird hawk moth on Leith Hill, Surrey a week or so ago. A first for me in the UK. I didn't realise they made it this far north as previously I'd only seen them in southern Europe.

Get them in the garden some years, was blown away the first time I saw one and we are almost in Oxfordshire

Defiantly coming north, they seem to love valerian, which is bountiful around here.

You can add your sighting onto the moth and butterfly website.

In the last few years I've seen just 2. One at Long Eaton and the other at Hathersage, both Derbyshire.
