Sled dogs / Wolf dogs owners
Discussion
Thought it would be nice to start a thread aimed at the owners of Sled dogs / Wolf dogs like the Siberian/Alaskan Husky & Malamute, Tamaskan Wolfdog, Saarloos Wolfdog etc etc. Place to post hints/tips from the expereiened owners on stuff like food and training.
Me and my partner now have a 6 month old pedigree Siberian Husky bh Maya, we are the second owners, the first family had her till she was 4 months, due to illness they had to let her go.
She had some lessons with previous owner and we are carrying the lessons on now, mainly working on recall.
We are moving her onto a raw diet supplied by butcher and local pet shop, previous owners had her on a kibble/ wet food diet but she seems to hate kibble.
In my local area we have a sunday meet up of Siberian Husky, Alaskan Husky, Husky X and Malamute's. It's in a big contained field. There is a couple of Tamaskans in the group as well but they don't come that often.
So whats everybody got? Spotted a few Wolfdogs in the pictures thread.

I always wanted a wolf cross in my younger days but never did. Since GOT there have been a lot of similar breeds ending up in shelters which is a shame. Most dogs like this, that I meet seem to be on leads in case they run off.
Beautiful looking dogs but I suspect a lot more work then anticipated.
OP good luck with yours. It's a cracker. :-)

Top tip, get rid of all carpet in your house, hard floors are easier to deal with when you have a Husky type living with you LOL Leather sofas too

She will be 1 in 18 days time
Just having some more recall/loose lead walking lessons at the moment, she seems to be responding well to them. Apart from that shes still sleeping in a cage at night but not had any major issues with digging/chewing as of late.
