Evening all.

We have a 2 year old female Cavachon and she is speyed.

We have a 1 year old Pug doc who isn't (yet) neutered. He is booked in but first available date is a month away.

Recently the humping and advances are relentless from the moment he opens his eyes until the moment e goes to sleep for the night.

Any advice until the appointment arrives? He's insatiable and whilst it was funny for the firs 30 thousand times it's just too much and the Cavachon hasn't yet hurt him but it's close.

I feel bad as he's just got his technique and rythym but something needs to give, and it aint the Cavachon, that's for sure!

Waiting game? Separation? Valium?

Given you'll have to separate him after the op while he's sore and the hormones die down, I'd have thought separation now would be the easiest option!

Might it not be an idea to actually let the Cavachon give him a "proper" nip?

When we got our latest lad he was 18months and pushed his luck a few times over various things which our 15year old bh didn't appreciate, three times in the first month she gave him a proper nip. He had ignored the look, the growl, the curled lips, the showing of teeth and all the other warning signs but now six months in he will not do any of the things he was shown he couldn't.

This is what we thought would happen but she has done everything you mention bar actually giving him something he'll never forget. She has had him pinned down and beat (she's twice the size) but alas the wee pug see's this as a challenge. It appears he enjoys the fight.

Why not try injection of suprelorin to work against the testosterone until the day of the op? Or if the waiting list is a month for a straightforward op, ask for a *cancellation* or move practice?

We're on the cancellation list but we've been with the same practice forever and couldn't think of moving. They are spectacular with the animals (staffing issues aside).

Today seems to be rest day. Both of them have barely moved all morning.

That's good to hear, but the practice should also hear your problems. Again, ask about suprelorin as a stop gap

We called and pressed the issue. Booked in for 25th.

Need to think about separation now
