Almost 11 wonderful years which i will never forget.

He had been struggling with walking for some time and developed other health issues the last few days.

He let me know last night that i had to let him go.

Gently held his head whilst the vet showed the last act of kindness.

Bosun was a Bullmastiff.
He was my best friend and companion.

I am absolutely heartbroken.

Run free old friend, until we meet again.
X.

The hardest and kindest thing that we dog owners have to do.

RIP Bosun and run like the wind.

So very, very sorry.

Your love for Bosun and your heartbreak at losing him are clear in your post.

Run free at the Bridge, Bosun, young and well again.

So sorry to read this.

One of mine is now over 11 and whilst in good health, I know we have a limited amount of time together.

Recently I have allowed him to sleep on the bed.

RIP Bosun - Great name

Many know how much it hurts as there have been so many wonderful friends, I still miss my mate so much. Hope you find some peace in the loss but some smile in the memory.

So sorry to hear this. But he is free from pain now and his soul will come back to you in time, when you are both ready for it.

I am so sorry and know how you are feeling, this is not a thread hijack. My rescue Tibetan Terrier Carrie had to be put to sleep in my arms on Friday, she has been with me constantly for the last 5 years and my sense of having failed her is immense. She was 15 and suddenly developed heart disease and kidney failure, so there was no coming back although it was a good age.

Every tiny thing reminds me she isn't here, and tomorrow I have to go an see my two ladies I dog walk with every day and tell them and also walk past the mum and 2 kids we always see at the bus stop who made a fuss of Carrie and tell them I suppose. My whole routine has changed, its a massive wrench.

I have been looking up pet bereavement but not really much help. Please post a pic of Bosun if you feel able, and he will be remembered on here while we have an internet.

Here is a pic of when I first got my pupster as I always called her, I was so proud of her.

Still miss my dog mollie after 7 years. Your story has reminded me and brought a tear to my eye. The best dog anyone could hope for.

My dog was 12 in January. I love him to bits but I can see him starting to struggle a wee bit. Breaks my heart. I wish you all the best
