We’ve got a 15 month British shorthair cat. He’s been neutered at around 9 months and has recently been to the vets for his boosters. At this most recent appointment, he was weighed and is 4.7kg. This seems to be at the lower end of the weight range but still healthy.

He isn’t a greedy cat and doesn’t tend to eat a lot. We always have dry food out for him and he also has wet pouches. He usually has less than two a day. He seems to lick the gravy off first, leave the flakes and then go back later and eat them when he’s hungry.

When he was with the breeder, she fed him raw food. Sometimes he will eat raw chicken and beef but more recently, he hasn’t touched the beef when I leave it out for him.

My worry at the moment is that he doesn’t seem to be pooping that regularly. Probably once every two or three days. When he passes a stool, it seems to be normal. I’m not sure if he is being very picky about his litter too because on one occasion he went when the litter was just changed. On another couple of occasions in the past three months he went in the bath rather than in the litter box which is in the bathroom.

His behaviour seems normal and he doesn’t seem to be acting any differently either.

I might book him into the vets but just wondering if anyone on here had any advice in the meantime.

Cat not unwell.....cat eats well......cat craps regularly......am I missing something? maybe he craps outside? cat food is usually low residue so relatively little bulk to turds. As long as there is no build up of faecal mass then there should be no problem.

Yes he seems fine. Solely indoor cat so doesn’t crap anywhere else.
