My mum and dad got a mini snauzer from a rescue 10 years ago. They believe he was 2 or so?
They also have a rescue shih tzu but Barney the snauzer was our first dog.

Past day or so he has been in pain and whimpering. Took him the vets. They’re unsure how to proceed but know he is in pain.
He goes back in in the morning. I held him earlier tonight.
Was in tears. I’m 29 ffs but wow, what a bond we grow with our pets. He is the best temperament I have ever seen in a dog. So loving and I have a choc lab who I also adore.

So he goes back the vets tomorrow for surgery maybe. Unsure if it is the best thing to do at 12 and a half? My mum and dad won’t want to see him in pain if surgery cannot stop him from being in pain.

Good luck with whatever decision you make.

It is never an easy time

If hes strong enough to survive surgery then its an option, a difficult option but its still viable.
Your biggest issue is going to be whether or not it will improve his life, my last Mini/mini X (we were never sure but she was a rescue so....) had a good life and lived till she was 14 and that was with Addisons for a good 10 years of her life, unfortunately a combination of Pancreatis and Vestibular disease was her demise frown

Have 2 mini's now so know what its like if one is ill frown

Good luck with your decision smile

If the dog is otherwise fit & healthy give it a try, surgery could be a simple fix.

Ours was another rare addisonian case, she past away a few months ago at 18 & 15 years an addisonian.

Been thinking about Barney and hope he's better. Any update?
