Hi all,

Can anyone recommend dog chew toys that last more than 20 minutes? I’ve gone through...well Freya my lab has gone through all the different ‘Tuff’ toys that use words like ‘indestructible’ etc.

She sat right now with a new ‘unbreakabke’. toy...within five minutes she’s pulled whole chunks of rubber out of it and is now making a right royal mess on the couch. Yesterday it was blue/yellow duck. Less than five minutes the stuffing was out and she was running around with just the squeaker in mouth have a whale of time.

Anything with rope is out...that gets split into a thousand threads in seconds.

So if anyone knows of any toys that last more than a day please let me know. Alternatively, if anyone knows of anyone who works for a dog toy company and wants a tester dog also please let me know. hehe

All of our toys have to be bull terrier proof. The standard “tuff” and supertuff stuff doesn’t last more than a few minutes.

Duncan can peel, rip to pieces and then eat a whole tennis ball in less than a minute. Lou will go through pretty much anything in less than 5 mins.

I swear by two brands...

Neither of which I can remember the names of. As soon as I get home I’ll have a look.

Nope. Our dogs will crunch through a lamb or pig skull in about 30 mins so chew toys are out. A mince filled cow hoof may occupy them now and again though

I’ve given her bones/joints but they just make a mess...antlers last but they get bored of them quite quickly and someone ends up loosing a slipper or remote control hehe

Can't offer any advice on suitable chew toys, however after reading about antlers and dogs I've chucked ours out (antlers, not the dogs!), apparently an antler is harder than a dogs teeth and therefore they can break teeth.

Ours chew through them. There is half an antler in the main bathroom right now

+1 for these, standing up well to our dog who destroys every other toy she gets her teeth into.

My dogs have antlers to chew as they don’t have toys per se.

Antlers and bison horns at home - they love fetch when they’re out. You should see what the pair of them can do to a football if they find one.

These keep my two quiet for an hour or so. Some are harder than others, wont damage teeth.

Hardened Yak milk

Logan loves them, even jean takes a while with them Everest value pack large seemed to be the best.

They are not indestructible mind i just prefer them to antlers as my too chomp down on them too hard

Only thing Logan hasn’t eventually destroyed is his yellow ball

By chance I bought the Yak milk sticks yesterday. They have gone down well...kept them quiet for a while.

I think I'm giving up on 'toys' for them as they just get mullered straight away.

Mine are ok on antlers and bison horns...although I bought white bison horns not knowing they were incredibly soft and just left what looked like a chalk explosion all over the floor. hehe

I was advised by Langford Vets (part of the vet school at Bristol University) that antlers were not a good thing because they can splinter. Buffalo horn and some sort of tree-wood (that I've forgotten the name of) were excellent long-lasting alternatives.

Frozen Carrots.

My beagle loves carrots, so we freeze them (not too big, enough to chew but not small enough to choke!)..takes an hour at least, licking and melting, then slowly eating...

Cows hooves.

Arnie destroys most toys eventually but hooves will have him sit and chew for ages, not managed to destroy one yet.
You just have to mind the smell....
