Family protection dogs
Discussion
Hi
I'm looking at purchasing a family protection dog . Usual domestic family set up ie wife and two boys under the age of 13 and my elderly mother.
There are a lot of companies around and the costs are pretty significant. I must say I was quite shocked at just how much but have now got my head around it.
I can't afford to make a mistake both from a financial point of view and also for the potential repercussions for my family.
Could anybody suggest a reputable company?
Thank you.

Yes, DDR near Sittingbourne. You're aware of them then.
Yes, am aware of them. They are the first company I've come across but as I'm new to this I wanted to look at some other outfits. Also going by the dates of their reviews it doesn't seem as though they have been around for that long.Do you have personal experience of them?
Thank you

I had no idea this was a thing! Why do you need one OP? Isn't a watchdog and a family pet mutually exclusive?
Nope not at all and one of the best breeds is a pyrenees mountain dog, they don't look massively aggressive but if brought up as a pup with a family they will act the same way as they do in the mountains.Higly protective but not aggressive
A d to the casual observer they don't look like an obvious guard dog
All you need is a dog that barks when someone comes onto the premises. My dog, a small collie bh is good with my kids (and other peoples) but will bark if someone comes through the gate. Basically no one can come into the house or property without setting her off, day or night, which is a deterrent in most situations.
You'd be in a world of st if you owned a dangerous dog that attacks people, more so if there is an internet thread detailing your intention to have such a creature.

No, sorry no personal experience of them. Do you have personal experience of them?
Thank you
Mind you, I got my last dog from https://rosedalegundogs.com/ in Beccles, Suffolk. The breeder does gun dog training for many including police, armed forces and so on.
The breeder, David, has contacts all over and may be able to recommend someone for you. He's extremely knowledgeable and helpful and he will want to help you, if he can.
No harm in calling him.

This is true. But not all dogs bark like this. Fortunately my dogs do! Perhaps the OP only requires a trained dog that will bark when necessary.
