My friend has a 3 year old Frenchie, which loves licking beer off my fingers. However, the alarmist websites indicate that even a drop of beer (e.g. in a saucer) is dangerous to dogs.

Back in the '70s, a friend's Labrador would often slurp down half a pint or so and never had any issues.

Has anyone had any experience of dogs suffering after licking up (small!) amounts of beer?

Never known any problems. Great fun getting my mum's mini dachshund to lick scotch of my finger. Have to do it when she's not watching.

I've seen a couple of dogs that have over done the beer, but its the alcohol they struggle with, their bodies cannot get rid of it as easily as we can though my 2 do like to lick the froth off my beer when im not looking!
