We have a syrian hamster around 1 year old which has suddenly stopped using 1 back leg and at the same time a red/black patch, blood? has appeared on a front paw. I'm not aware of any accidents and we can't examine the hamster he wont be touched. Does anyone have any knowledge, ideas or suggestions?

Maybe he was injured when he fell asleep at the wheel. getmecoat

Only just seen this, how is the hamster doing?

The main risk is it getting infected but I don't really kno hat it could be from the description.

If he isn't better then he needs to go to the vet, if he really can't be touched (unusual for Syrians as they are easy to tame) they will need to give him some gas to examine him so it won't be the cheapest. However he can't be left with a leg that doesn't work and another that is blistered etc

Hello Cmaxed! I’ve read what you posted about your hamster. I had a pretty similar situation. My hamster got injured on his wheel. One of his tiny paws stuck between strings while he was still running. You must choose a safe wheel and other “gym equipment” for your rodent. In case you have a running wheel in his cage, that might be the reason. I would recommend you to contact your local vet or at least send him some photos. But from what you’ve described it looks like you rodent got injured. Also, you can check here https://petsoid.com/common-mistakes-new-hamster-ow... . They have pretty much useful tips.
