Hi all

Been keeping tanks for 15 or so years (tropical, salt and cold water).

I have a Juwel Primo 70l tank to get me back into it once we moved into our new house which housed two fancy goldies, I recently upgraded to a Juwel Lido 120l tank. I moved across the filter media and the gravel.

the last month or so of the Juwel 70L the water was cloudy almost like a dust storm and this has followed suit to the Lido 120L. Even if I do a 50% water change it will cloud right back up within 24 hours.

Water params are fine and I am feeding the same granules as always.

The only thing I can think of is the gravel has somehow turned bad, it would be just over a year old.

Any ideas on what is going on.

You will see from the pictures what looks like a coating of dust on the magnet and the glass. I am sure this is not algea though.

You could be right, just keep with the filtration and look for improvements in a day or two.

That definitely looks like a bloom in a cycling tank to me. What are the readings for nitrite, nitrate and ammonia?

Out at the minute but will check when back in.

It began in a tank that had been going for 1 to 1.5 years and has followed to the new tank ( media moved to new filter) hence thinking it was bad gravel.

You could have old tank syndrome which has caused a cycle. How often do you change the water?

Usually weekly however on occassion I have stretched it to fortnightly.

Just did a quick google and it appears that daily water changes should assist.
