Just seen this posted on everyone's favourite tabloid *I jest*

Scaffolder saves dogs from hot car

Seriously what goes through these people's minds?

The guys response when he sees the culprit is brilliant though

If it was for real, get both dogs out of car.

Fully agree, I do get the impression there is a bit of facebook fame going on.

25 years ago I came across a red sierra estate parked in the traffic management on my job. It was a Saturday and north of 28 degrees (temperature not latitude). I stopped to check out the car as it was blocking the closed lane and in it was a beautiful and very large German Shepherd on the back seat with a tongue about a foot long, gasping for air. I broke into the car (90's Ford so easy!) and engaged with the dog. Gave it at least a litre of water which I had in my van. Fed it the water like a baby from a bottle. Then I opened all of the windows and called the local RSPCA to attend. On getting out of the back seat having made friends with the big boy and after closing the door, I realised that he may be able to jump out of the rear window and get onto the live carriageway, so I reached into the open window to wind it up a little. Big mistake. He launched himself at me and grabbed hold of my hand with such force that the blood came immediately. Sadly I had to smack him on the nose with my free hand to force him to let go. Of course, I'd invaded his space. There was blood all over the back seat but more importantly to me at the time, there were unfinished Happy Meals on the passenger seat. My first instinct until I saw the Happy Meals was to call the Police. My next instinct was to wrap my profusely bleeding hand and get to A&E. Very deep gash and tear wound to the fleshy part between my thumb and forefinger. Got to A&E expecting a few stitches and ended up there for 3 days with infection and serious microsurgery to repair the tendons and nerves in my hand.

I can still see the face of the dog.

Would I do it again? Too right.

I'd just be a little more careful!!

I could understand that the dog was the last thing the probably young and scared mother was thinking about on a fast dual carriageway with young kids to look after. It is very easy to make these mistakes and it is very easy to judge those that do. There is a huge difference between wilfulness and stupidity.
