Rant about people
Discussion
Bear with me. Its a bit long but It is about animals, or rescue animals specifically.
So we have a rescue staffy we've had for 3 years and have been looking for a friend to join him.
This weekend we found the perfect friend. Another Staffy, quite small, but beautiful and with a great personality. And both dogs got on really well.
So today we went back to let the two meet again and get more comfortable.
And we find all hell has broken loose.
Apparently the new dog was brought in by the female owner who is splitting up from her husband so wanted to dump the dog and she then told the husband that she'd had the dog put down!
So a week later the bloke has found out what's going on and has reclaimed his dog.
I don't have an issue with him having his dog back, although we had set our hearts on him joining the family so we're all upset, but what really gets my goat is that people exist that actually would use a pet as a weapon against their partner in that way.
Some people need putting down.
Sorry just needed to rant and couldnt do it at home as my wife is upset by the whole episode.

People can be s
My son's ex gf had his beloved Dottie put down.
Sure,he was ill and it had to be done, but she didn't even give him a chànce to be there at the end.
Friends of the missus had their elderly Newfie put down so they didn't need to pay extra rental deposits!
She was old and knackered but we would have taken her,she was a lovely drooly old thing
Selfish, putting themselves before the dogs

It is a very real situation .
The stories people have told to have a pet put to sleep in revenge for a relationship gone bad is sickening. I have personally witnessed this twice I am glad to say we saw through the situation and we didn't put the dogs to sleep (happens with other types of pets as well)
A disappointing out one for you but so relieved the dog is safe.

I walked home from work one day to find a note saying that the "f****ing dog had eaten one of her shoes and she was on the way to the vet to have him put down"
I ran up that road like Linford Christie, and stopped just as she was going in the door.
I grabbed the dog, went home, chucked my stuff into bin liners and never saw her again. Psycho.
Buddy lived happily with me for another 12 years. And never chewed anyone elses shoes.

As a vet where do you stand if someone comes in and wants to have their healthy pet PTS for whatever reason; ultimately are you obliged to carry out the owners wishes? We have had situations where they have taken their pet somewhere else to a vet that will do it (and there is an argument that if a vet doesn't an owner may try and do it themself) but most are relieved that someone will stop them being 'forced' to make that decision.
I personally (and my family) have rehomed signed over pets.
So a week later, we've had a call from the rescue centre.
After all this the owner has said he doesn't want the dog and has signed him over to the rescue.
So as from next week we will have our second Staffy! Beyond ecstatic.
My wife promptly burst into tears, as she us unable to have children so dogs are her babies - and mine to be honest.
Been a roller coaster week but so looking forward to having two boys in the house.
