Needed to take my mind of some things today. My Dad is in hospital (serious stuff. But staying strong) and his car had been there a few days so I got a friend to take me to see him and offered to bring it back.

He has NEVER let me drive his cars. Even being without wheels myself since May he hasn’t offered. When I took the keys I asked if I could pop to his and borrow a drill. He look horrified and asked “can you be trusted”...

Having four house cats I want to be able to let them explore outside safely but garden is too big and spread around the house to secure. Now I’m no DIY expert, far from it, but always enthusiastic about trying and designing something.

Here’s my Cattery build so far...

This garden is off the back of my dining room so needed a raised section so the French doors can be opened. The floor are is 12’ x 6’. I’ve put a hatch in at side against the wall with a view to building a small sentry style shed eventually for shade and with sleeping platforms etc.

The main door opens out on to a gravelled entertaining area with sofas and hot tub and I still have another huge garden off that with my Summerhouse. So this doesn’t invade any space at all.

I’m intending to put some artificial grass down when funds allow and will add some branches and other exciting cat things.

It’s not finished as still need to secure to the brickwork. This part I might need help with. But I’m done for today and I hurt.

Looks good.
You might want to consider something a bit more secure than the latch you currently have fitted in the bottom pic.

Thank you. Hopefully they’ll use it. Will be nice to have a morning coffee out there with them eventually. You know. Once the winter is here. Like next week.

Yes that’s already on the list. It can currently be pushed just far enough for even a fat cat like Walter to squeeze through. That’ll be the hatch that leads to eventual side shed. But in the meantime i’ll be fitting a bolt to it later this week. Cats aren’t allowed out there yet unsupervised - only Walter was out there with me today. Lebowski (Bengal) came out and shouted then ran back in to play with the Chihuahua. I think the dogs have spent the most time in it so far!

Would like to paint it white or cream too but that’s something for next year I think as will need to undo some of the mesh. The panels I picked up from neighbouring village for £80 so it’s been an absolute bargain. Just hard graft.
