While I was stood in the kitchen earlier our biggest cat (more of a panther really!) appeared at the back door and dropped something feathery which he then began to bat around a bit. I grabbed him and chucked him indoors and went back out to find a fledgling starling sat on the patio looking rather startled. I picked him up and gave him a good look over and I couldn't find any bite marks or blood so it appears the cat was quite gentle picking him up, however I didn't want to chuck him back down the garden as our kittens are also prowling around most the time.

I've currently got him sat in a box on the windowsill but I'm not sure what to do with him. He seems happy and healthy enough but I don't know where he came from to go and put him back in the right sort of place.

Can anyone help with what I'm meant to do? I don't want to put him back out only for one of the cats to grab him again. Oh, he doesn't appear to be able to fly yet.

Put it back as close to where you think the cat caught it as possible then leave well alone.

Bring your cats in for the night first. Either that , or feed it to the cats.
