We recently discovered a small frog (2 inches long) had jumped in to a bucket of rain water outside our back door. We've kept the water level topped up with rain water from butts, put some stones in, and it appears quite comfortable.

Obviously with the upcoming heat wave it would be somewhat cruel to kick the frog out, and it hasn't attempted to leave the bucket. But realistically, what should we do?

We live on the edge of a village, so there are fields and gardens around. There's a spring nearby too, but that is currently dry (will reappear in autumn). We're unaware of any ponds nearby, but do have access to the Kennet and Avon Canal and River Enborne.

Any advice?

Look at rental around your area and charge the frog appropriately

I'm not sure the frog rental sector is doing particularly well at the moment so I'd avoid that, albeit potentially profitable, suggestion for the time being.

Have you and the family thought about adoption? It's of course a huge decision which could change your lives however I'm sure the local council could provide help and assistance throughout the process.

I toadally see how you've ended up with this chap at your pad.

I think you may have to just gribbit, and hop to the local river where there's not much flow and plenty of foliage to get in and out/hide in.

This is a charity dedicated to the welfare of amphibians etc. I found an answer in their FAQ re: frogs in gardens, hope this helps. If not you could email them
