At wits end with rag doll messing
Discussion
Hi.
We have had our rag doll for around 5 years now. Original pics on here somewhere. He is an outdoor cat loving the garden and has never been a problem. Always doing his business in the flower beds at end of garden. Until now.
Recently he has taken to messing in the house, both solid and wee, under dressing tables and other furniture. Out in the open, no pattern to where or when.
Nothing in his life has changed, no traumas or frights. No other cats coming in (apart from our other one, and they are inseparable)
We took him to the vet who has booked him in this week for an exploratory examination.
Now, our biggest problem is that we have a place abroad and go for chunks of 4 weeks at a time. My mother lives with us and looks after the cats which has never been an issue. At her age though, she can't move furniture or clamber under dressing tables.
We have placed 3 litter trays in different locations with different litter in to see if there is a favourite, but whilst he has wee'd in them occasionally, he has completely ignored them for solids.
I guess, I am wondering if anyone here has experienced similar, or can offer advice as to how we can break this cycle.
Googling doesn't really offer much more than we have already tried.
Thank you.

our british lilac was a bit older 13, but after using outside or indoor litter tray, decided the mat near the front door was the new place, que an oil litter tray, puppy pads, to make a very large shallow tray, in the end it was her kidneys that was the issue, which they said this was classic behaviour as its painful for the cat and they associate the litter tray or usual place for going to the loo as an unpleasant experience. we called time on our abi after she went downhill and looked as if she was ready, devastating,
