We have 2 exotic shorthairs we got in September last year and their shedding is driving me up the wall. Everything I have tried has had no impact whatsoever. In fact it's only getting worse!

I've tried 2 different types of brush. The soft plastic ones that use static electricity and the dedicated shedding ones that look a bit like an oversized not comb. Despite brushing each cat outside for 15 minutes every couple of days, resulting in huge amounts of fur coming off, there is still hair everywhere in the house. Seriously, where does it all come from?

I've tried bathing them but it had no impact whatsoever.

They're on royal canin dry food and Felix wet food. So it's not cheap supermarket food which is the issue. We did try changing their wet food but it gave them bad stomachs.

It doesn't help that I'm a complete neat freak and any kind of mess makes me feel uncomfortable. As a result, all the hair is making me feel like I can't relax in my own home. If I put the fan on I can see hair floating around the living room. My days off now pretty much entail of me hoovering, dusting and cleaning, trying to get rid of all the bloody hair. I'll empty the hoover before starting and by the time I've finished, it will be full of hair again.

Beautiful cats you have!

One of our boys has the same issue. We adopted him 18 months ago at age 5 and he constantly lost so much fur it got everywhere.

We started feeding him on this skin and fur dry food in addition to his usual wet Felix.

Royal Canin Cat Food Hair & Skin Care 33 Dry Mix 4 kg https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0015UGC60/ref=cm_sw_r...

It’s really seems to have helped. Fortunately he really likes dry food and eats it happily.

He still loses fur and it’s worse at the moment as the weather has warmed up but it’s so much better than it was.

I brush him once a week with a flea comb to remove lose fur.

It’s now at a level we can live with.

There’s several of wet skin and fur pouches if your cat won’t eat dry.

There’s also Omega oil drops you can put ou their existing food but our cats could tell their food had been tampered with and wouldn’t eat it.

Good luck. I sympathise.

Thanks Wilwak, I'll give that food a try.
