Jesus TF Christ! This fell out of my shorts this morning as I put them on. Big dopey bd!

It survived (Just about...) a hit with a slipper so I chopped its head off with a ruler and the body was trying to put it back on!

Presumably it's a hornet? I don't think I've actually seen one before this year, and this is the second.

Christ.

I’d have burned the house down.

We get them. Surrey. It’s a European hornet. Looks just like a giant wasp. Make sure you try and kill it outright. A wounded one sends out smells/signals to his mates to get round to sting your ass smile

Just move. Its the only logical thing to do. Never return to that house!

On a serious note, i goy stung by one of they 5-6cm flying wasp/terridactilewasp when i was 10 in greece. Hated them ever since.

Aren't they actually pretty docile by nature though?

We have them every few years and we have seen quite a lot this year.

They never (touch wood) bother us - more focussed on flying around the pond.

Doesn't stop me being unnerved by them though!

I’d concur. Not overly aggressive if left alone. The bds kill other bees though. I swat them. Actually I have an electric racket to fry them. Watch they don’t start a nest under the eaves

Yep, I've been having a read. Taking other insects on the wing is pretty cool, just not bees. frown

Unnerving in your shorts though. hehe

Where I have a house in Arizona they have Tarantula Hawk Wasps which have about the most agonizing sting of all..not venomous, but will knock you down immediately. If you get stung while driving you are definitely going to crash.......oh...they also eat tarantulas, which we have commonly.

Hornets are very docile. They tend to headbutt you to warn you off before stinging you.

Unfortunately, I see them and see turbo wasps, so I fk off sharpish wherever possible.

I know it’s irrational, but I haven’t been stung since the age of six. I’ve been punched in the face, been run over, broke bones etc. but in my mind being stung is the worst pain in the world.

I’m 27. If I was to get stung I’d get over it. Until then, I’m legging it hehe

Just keep a tarantula in the car to distract them. Should give you time to pull over and leg it/set fire to your car.
