Have they been in a pond or tank?

I'm sure they'd appreciate a little air pump.

They don’t need an air pump but they will need a decent large filter and a much bigger tank. The tank you have there is totally unsuitable for any fish whatsoever let alone big messy fish like goldfish. You will need a tank of at least 120 litres, preferably 300 and a filter aimed at tanks of 500 litres.

Got a filter thing and it blows bubbles across the surface of the water, it has a sponge in it that you can take out and clean. After just one day the water is very clear. Doing this thread for someone else who wants to put a couple more small fish in so will mention a larger tank. Thanks all

Unfortunately the clarity of the water bears little relation to its suitability for fish. At present those fish are living in highly toxic ammonia which is burning/slowly killing them. Keeping two goldfish in a tiny tank due to ignorance is one thing but adding more fish is downright animal cruelty. 4 goldfish need a tank of at least 210 litres. The tiny death tank you have at the moment requires at least 2 large water changes per day using dechlorinated water if you want the existing 2 to survive. The filter you have will take approx 6 weeks to cycle, I suggest reading up on this. Basically you have two options, either go out and buy a properly sized tank or rehome your fish with someone who can provide a suitable tank.

"just inherited two gold fish"

And to you Mavis Smith I leave £13m from the estate.
To you Bert Entwistle I leave the castle and the grounds including the trout hatchery.
For Lisa and Sue, the twins, I leave the French farm house and one of the Galapagos islands. The one without Sir David Attenbourough on it.

And to you johnnywgk, I leave the two goldfish, one with a fan tail.

Go on, tell us the history behind this post!
