Taken by Mrs Rene7 - June 2015 near Durness in Far north west Scotland,
All the photo's from our holiday were lost until recently when a friend managed to recover the holiday shots from a failed Ext HDD.
To me it looks like a Chiffchaff/Willow Warbler but colouration is all wrong?
Bird guides also mention that neither of these species breed in northern Scotland?
I'm sure someone on here will know for certain

Woodpecker Finch.

I'll caveat that by saying I know nothing, but a right click 'Search google for this image' only brings back 2 results, both of which are 'woodpecker finch' smile

Looks like a chiffchaff to me. You do get them, and willow warblers, in the north of Scotland.

Another couple of points:-
It looks 'chunkier' than a chiffchaff which is quite 'Lightweight' - also the legs and paws are orangy, all chiffchaffs I've seen have dark legs.
Thanks for the suggestions so farsmile

The bird photographed was busy feeding its young'

I agree with Willow Warbler, but I'd not lean towards Scandinavian. The weather hasn't really brought anything over and it looks very much like a late brood juvenile to me.
