Hi all.
I'm looking for a bit of advice.

My dog has just been diagnosed with Pancreatitis and is currently over-nighting at the vets.
Having googled the causes and future treatment it seems too much fat in the diet is a prime cause and a low fat diet is recommended.

Without getting into all the natural/raw v's commercial argument what % of fat is considered high/med/low fat for a dog????

Ours has always had two (commercial) foods - one moist @ 8% fat mixed with tinned @ 5% fat.

We originally opted for these because our dog won't eat vegetables or dry/kibble and these had a high meat content.

What I can't find out is has my dog been on high/med/low fat diet and how much lower could the fat in her diet go?

TIA

Does that mean you won't consider raw?

Well she's eleven and a half and she's very fussy (won't eat kibble, won't eat vegetables, even turns her nose up at certain biscuits) so I don't think she'd take to such a change.
Also she's a Schnauzer with quite a long beard ........ rightly or wrongly I really don't like the thought of raw food bacteria in her beard every time she eats.
The food that we give her now is a moist that we mix with a pate type (no gravy) = clean beard ;-)

Anyway as I say I don't want to get into the raw v's commercial discussion - I'd just like some advice as to what % of fat is considered high, medium and low.
