GPS collars for cats
Discussion
Pawtrack. Their first model was excellent but bulky (have a big cat so wasn’t bad). Gen2 much slimmer but a bit of a disaster technical quality-wise (I had to return 6) but their new model comes out in the next month or so and is slimmer again and they hope to have ironed out a lot of the problems.
Always had a very quick reply to emails if/when I’ve needed help.

The one on the video on their website still looks massive to me!
That’s the Gen2. The new one they did email me a photo of and it looked smaller.Re monthly fee the first year is all in and then the monthly fee kicks in. They have a SIM card in transmitting data hence the fee - like a contract mobile phone. I’ve never actually got as far with one as getting to the monthly fee stage! Gen1 cat lost after about 11 months and Gen2 full of problems so didn’t get anywhere near a year.
Found the photo. One in the video on the left and the new one on the right.
If you find another option I’d be very open to hearing about it but this was the best we could find when looking and while the last year of it was a disaster the first version was very accurate/reliable and saved us (my wife) a good few sleepless nights when we were able to find him - sometimes half a mile away.

Soon to be released and Swiss made, specifically for cats. I am currently looking for something that is not sized like a brick and this seems likely to be a good option. www.gpscatcollar.com

Thanks all - I'll keep looking and report back!
Hows the research going sidicks? Did you decide on one? We're moving house soon and have kept our now 7 month old kitten in until we move. We'll keep him in the new place for a while so he can acclimatise then start showing him outdoors. He often spends most his day looking out the window, thinking he may already have cabin fever!
Like the idea of a GPS collar (small & light) to see what he gets up to and for locating him if he goes missing. Especially prominent after my parents cat went missing recently never to be seen or heard from again.
No personal experience but neighbour has one of these on their dog and is really pleased with it.....
