Hi all,

Just after some advice if anyone can help.

I have twin ginger toms approx 1 year old both neutered and been with me for a few months. All has been going well but suddenly over the last week one of them has been peeing in the hall way in three different places and one in my bedroom.

I believe i know which one it is, he’s the more shy of the two and once I find the pee and start clearing it up he’s quick to hide, like he know he’s in trouble. Although I never shout at him or similar as I don’t want to frighten him as he’s more nervy than the other.

Out of the two of the he’s the quiet one, not bullied by the other and they’re both happy being around each other.

I can’t work out what may have suddenly caused it. I’m in a middle flat so there is noise from upstairs every so often but nothing that the last 3 months has troubled them. I’m at a bit of a loss. I’ve been cleaning the area with a specific cat odour and stain remover and even cut the underlay away underneath so there is no trace of pee left, but he still goes in the same spots. Two in corners, two alongside a wall.

I’ve got a feliway plugged in a couple of days ago and I understand these can take a while to kick in. I understand these can calm anxiety in cats and as he’s the more timid, I wondered if that’s what it could be.

I’ve read a second litter tray can help? As they share one at the mo. But I wondered if anyone else has encountered this and what they did about it?

I’m worried in case it could be something more serious that I’m missing.

Thanks all.

2 or 3 litter trays around the house & some Feliway plug ins (one downstairs and one upstairs) will do it. smile

Get him/her checked out by a vet for kidney issues, diabetes or urinary issues.

They should have a tray each plus one extra.

Interesting, yes we are giving them a few dreamies. No more than 5 a day and maybe up to 5 of the felix small biscuit treats as well. But this has been the same for the last 3 months.

Did you ever find out what it was about the dreamies that made your cat do it? Something in them?

Thanks for your reply smile

I never got an answer, but the vet said no more than four a day. It was one cat of the three I have, stopped the Dreamies & the peeing stopped. I think the packs say no more than seven a day.

dreamies have caused a relapse of our cats urinary issues, no science but i'm certain that his illness returned each time he has had them. vet said there is no need for them, steer well clear.
