After losing our last Rhodesian in August suddenly, I hoped that we had another in the family and that day arrived on 24th November. We were heartbroken and my other half didn't feel like she was ready and although we still feel incredibly sad about losing George, our new boy Lenny is doing well to keep us all entertained, including our 8 year old collie.

He was less than impressed at the new arrival but after a few weeks they seem to have bonded. He's partially house trained now, I think at 11 weeks old his bladder is pretty small so can't hold it for long! But we've not had many accidents. Sleeps has been an issue .... crying every night in the first week so up all hours, then usually lasts till 4am/5am which isn't great but not far off so I'll take it.

I was unaware that owners are recommended to keep dogs inside until 12 weeks so he's on the last few days .... fingers crossed as the caged animal needs to burn off some energy. :-)

He's growing at the rate of 1 KG per week which doesn't surprise em as his diet is 1 KG per day :-D

Thanks all, he's coming along really well, but ready for the great outdoors! Yes the breed is really special (i'm sure everyone says that about their fave breed) .... they have so many quirks from odd sleeping and standing positions to facial expressions. Plus they're loyal, protective and very stubborn which you get used to :-)

Fellow Vizsla (x Dobe) owner here. Get ready for -

More energy than he knows what to do with.
Wanting to be dominant with you.
Him being a food stealer.
Many are seriously reactionary to other dogs.
They can get very bored, then they potentially destroys things. Luckily for us ours just steals from the recycling bin and destroys a plastic milk bottle or similar!

They are a very intelligent quick learning dog. Ours opens door handles, and knows every command and gesture in the book. Also trained out barking at the door and side gate within two days.

Still love him though, even though half the time he gets called the ginger dick.
