Something has taken a liking to the barge boards above the garage door. My guess is a woodpecker, as we see them in the garden often.

Any suggestions for discouragement of such behaviour? Preferably not involving a 12-bore.

Good plan. I'm curious why they're picking this spot, though. Can't be looking for insects, or a nesting site, surely?
