Not sure if there is, but i am getting increasing wound up/upset when i see animal/pets especially dogs in TV programmes.

I get sad when I see adverts for Dog re homing programs, (like that Paul O'Grady programme).

I feel awful at sad animal stories, I get mad as hell when I read about mistreatment of pets.

Last week there was a video of an old monkey that was dying and an old friend came to see him-the monkeys reaction was amazing, and it stayed with me all day! I felt so sad for him.

I cant watch/read this stuff anymore-its just to upsetting. And I spend most of my life trying to make sure my 2 dogs have the best life ever, with lots of fuss and love.

Is it normal, or am I just soft loser?

You need to watch Marley and Me, with a nice glass of Rosé, a large box of tissues, and a warm Duvet.

And then put you penis in a blender. biggrin

I am (sadly... or not) exactly the same as the OP. I have NEVER watched Marley and Me and never will, couldn't watch that video of the old chimp, and hate to see the videos of animal cruelty. I know it goes on, I will do whatever I can to stop it but watching it... never. An ex friends dog died yesterday (and oddly it was one of the few dogs I didn't like, it was a right bully to my two so it had to be stopped from coming round) and while I didn't like the dog, I was so sad at his death, mad because I rarely get upset if a human dies!

But then, dogs are so much better than humans.

+1 here.

I cannot click on anything I see that could be related to animals being mistreated, and I definitely don't watch any of the shelter rescue or veterinary programmes on TV either. It probably says something not very good about me that I can watch Comic Relief with starving kids in Africa and not bat an eyelid, but show me a cat that's been shot with an airgun and I'm a mess of rage and sadness.

Never seen Marley & Me either!

I don't get too emotional about anything but whenever I read the Gelert story (Beddgelert) it always brings a lump to the throat

Marley and Me is childs play complared to "A Dogs Purpose" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1753383/

I can watch Schindler's list with not a tear, watched this and I swear I had a headache from crying so much, the funny thing was I looked over and my kids and wife were blubing too, went to the toilet halfway through it and could barely pee straight because my shoulders were shaking so much laugh

Our dogs couldn't believe their luck with all the cuddles and treats they got that night!

So, no, your not alone, I'm getting to the point of being unable to watch or hear about animal cruelty.

...And no, I cannot abide anything to do with animal cruelty in any shape or form.

I have to accept it goes on, but I will not read or watch anything at all on the subject.

Glad to see I am not alone in here on this.

One of my little hobby horses is Bear Bile farming - to me, one of the most vile things in mans history, and I am constanly trying to create awareness of the plight of these poor creatures. I have written to my MP several times on the subject and never had a reply..... :/

The plight of sun bears in China used for bile farming has to be the saddest thing I have ever seen. I literally cried, and that doesn't happen often.

Some of these animal cruelty stories you see in the news really do make me question life, Humans are a despicable species in the grand scheme of things. I get home to my dog and think he wishes no ill on anyone, feels remorse and is by nature loving.

If I ever make it rich my mission would be to travel the world putting a stop to whatever I could and the way I feel sometimes punishing those responsible.

Perhaps a feel good animal thread is in order to counter this is in order?

I’m the same as you Stevie.

I watched the chimp video and the room got instantly dusty at the same time.

I can sit and watch films where people get slaughtered and not be affected by it... watch something where an animal is killed and I’ll be upset for the rest of the day. Normally vowing never to watch it again.

I am legend - never again
Marley and me - never have as I got the heads up by the missus
Watership down - what the actual fk was my mother thinking when she plonked me in front of the tv one Christmas in the late 80s to watch that???
John Wick- love the film but skip the bit with the puppy
Project X - (think it was called that) about some chimps being trained for warfare - friends 13th birthday party, all sitting watching it, they still take the piss out of me for blubbing
I’ve not watched any of the recent plant of the apes films for fear I’ll end up like that boy watching watership down again
Never ending story - cried like a mother fker when the horse sank into the bog
RSPCA ads - change channel straight away - that donkey one at the moment is especially heartbreaking.

To name but a few...

The only time I saw my dad cry was when the dog died. He buried friends and relatives but always kept the stiff upper lip... our 14 year old dog died and he cried like a toddler.

A Dog's Purpose - Thanks for the tip but there is no chance in hell that I am ever watching that! biggrin
