Does anyone have any experience with this drug?

One of ours has been on it for just over 4 months.

It seems to have put the seizures in check (which we are delighted about) & up until last week, was reasonably priced.

However the cost has nearly quadrupled so I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or found a cheaper way to buy.

The only only outlet that I could find has an equally high price.

We had it for one of our cats for a few years. Liquid form that tasted a bit grim - I'm sure I took a fair amount from splashes etc!
Seemed to do the trick on the whole but yes its pricey. Around £300 a bottle iirc and we used maybe 3 a year.
Never found an better source and we were the only ones at our vets using it.

It has always been pricey unfortunately, I'm sorry to hear it has increased so much more. Have you asked your vets if they know why? Sometimes the company increases the costings when they have to put a drug through relicensing. As it is a human drug have you looked at a cost from a pharmacy?

I have to assume this is price per tablet!

The price per tablet we were paying was around £0.29. It's now over £1.00.

Having spoken to the vet this morning, it seems that there is a manufacturing issue which has driven the rapid price increase.

I don't suppose you asked if they can lower any mark up they put on it (I don't know how much they will have put on them, possibly not much) cheeky but worth a go.

I have 60 x 250mg tablets if they are any good to you? Unfortunately our female Dobermann that was prescribed them never survived so have an unopened box. I think the shelf life is a little limited on them, but should be good for a couple of months and more than happy to post them over to you so they go to a good home.

Wow, that's very kind of you. Sorry about the circumstances though. He's actually just had a second fit in 23 hours. Almost made it to 8 weeks since the last episode, which was also the worst in 4 years. He was hospitalised then bless him.

I'll send you a PM to make arrangements.

Thanks again smile

I don't have the neck for that. There are quite a few owners who are in the same boat as us at the practice. Fingers crossed that things get back to normal soon.
