Gents.
We are in the dreadful position of having to re home our two dogs due to changes in our circumstances. One is a wire haired Daschund and the other is a Spaniel cross and both are friendly, house trained lovely dogs. The biggest problem is they are inseparable friends who play and play together and are virtually joined at the hip. Both are still young, the spaniel is about seven and the daschund is three and we really want to keep them together in their new life as they would pine for each other without any doubt, particularly the spaniel who is devoted to the little fella. My wife gets very tearful at the thought of them going and is becoming increasingly distressed at the prospect. A loving new home for both is what we need to find, can anyone help or make any suggestions?

I can't help but I'll keep everything crossed that you find the right home.

Do you have a local pet rescue place that might have suitable people on the books so to speak?

You could advertise on the web. We got our puppy that needed rehoming after only two days or it was going back to the breeder.

The owner vetted the hell out of me over the phone (rightly so) and the handover was horrendous as everyone was in tears... but 7 months on and I still text pictures to her which has made the process easier for her.

Best of luck though...

Firstly, I am sorry you're in this position frown I would endorse the suggestion of a local rescue organisation, who will have processes in place to ensure they go to the right home.

Having said that, most rescues are bursting at the seams these days, so you may struggle to find one with spaces. ETA - just seen you are in France; I don't know so much about the system there I'm afraid.

You could also advertise them on the dog rescue forum I have frequented for many years: http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/index.php?act=id... as a private rehoming, but you will not be able to ask for money for them.

Yes we are in France but would like to bring the dogs back to UK to re home. The French attitude to dogs and animal welfare in general is not the same as ours. They are both fully inoculated and have their pet passports.

Do you have a base in the UK? Without one, it is a bit difficult to suggest smaller local rescues and you may be restricted to the national organisations (RSPCA, Dogs Trust, Blue Cross).

There is a list of rescues by region here, although it might not be very up to date:

Russ - so sorry that you're in this awful position.

Does the re-homing have to be permanent or could you benefit from a few month fostering?

Really sorry to read about your predicament.

Nothing useful to add but hope things are sorted

Good luck
