Our two news GSDs seem to moult extraordinary amounts of hair, everywhere, and when I brush them they remind me of the everlasting bottle of beer.

Is it normal to moult so much? Or maybe it is because we are leaving the winter?

Do they need a haircut, or shall I just keep on brushing them?

They love it, and will lay happily in the sun, or in the front room, as I run my wiry tool across their every surface.

Hoovering the whole house every morning is getting old though.

Ours (long-haired boy) does it as well. Just wait until they blow their coats!

Beautiful dogs, though. Worth every moment of the hoovering. smile

Try using a Furminator on them, that seems to get a lot of the loose hair off and they leave less lying around the house. And you can build yourself a new GSD with the hair you collect. wink

We had that when we first got them, pulling great tufts of hair out of their hind quarters, like it had just come unglued.

We saw the Furminators in Pet land, but bought something that looked more like a medieval torture implement, a small rake shape, with large steel spikes on.... it works well.
