So this morning, a sparrow got chased into the house by a Robin. They both ended up in the kitchen. I let the Robin out of the window and was trying to get the sparrow out when he flew around went into the wall and ended up on the floor.

He was quickly pounced upon by the dog who, once we realised we wanted to get the poor thing out of his mouth ran away and ended up swallowing it live !

I presume this is just what dogs do and he'll be unaffected by it, but should we be concerned at all ?

Not looking forward to picking up that after it's been through his system I can tell you !

A bit of wuffage will probably be good for him. I certainly wouldn't be concerned.

My cavalier done something like that. We were walking along and this lovely little robin hopped along beside us and then **GULP**
I was quite shocked as cavaliers are so placid. I tried hard to open his mouth to free the creature but it was too late.

My pointer frequently catches and eats whole hares - fur, head, feet, the lot - with no ill effects. Not to mention snacking on all sorts of long-dead and dessicated seabirds and waterfowl.

Look at it this way: which do you think they spent millions of years evolving to eat; carrion and live prey, or cereal-based 'complete' dog biscuits?

My staff ate some ducklings last week, I was horrified!

To her they probably just looked like a toy.

Pay your staff properly so that they can afford real food!

I felt so sorry for the sparrow - harrassed by a Robin and then in the stomach of a Vizsla....not the best morning for it really !
