Wobbly hamster woes.
Discussion
We've an 18 month old hamster that keeps falling over and isn't eating or drinking.
I will take it to the vet tomorrow, but my thinking is it's probably had it. Is this normally the case?
I had to have the family dog put down two weeks ago, so am not really relishing signing the death warrant for another loved one. Only the fish left...

Sadly I think you are right. Sometimes we can treat little hammies when there is something obvious wrong but when it is more generalised it is harder. A vet may find something and offer treatment but do be prepared for the worst.
I often find once hamsters ears start staying flat on their head then it is a bad sign (and if they start looking haunched as they walk). Sorry I couldn't be more positive.

Thanks Bex, yes as I recall his ears are flat and he is hunched up.I often find once hamsters ears start staying flat on their head then it is a bad sign (and if they start looking haunched as they walk). Sorry I couldn't be more positive.
Think I will be buying a new hamster this weekend....
