Protrusion of the nictitating membrane is as far as I can tell rarely an issue, but I'd keep an eye on it. Doubtless Bex will be on in a bit, probably with better advice.
I am so predictable .
Both third eyelids showing up is a common sign of Torovirus. It is usually a self limiting virus lasting about 3 weeks and sometimes the cats will seem not quite their normal selves and maybe some diarrhoea.
If you have an older cat this can occur when the cat loses the fat pads behind the eyes causing the eyes to 'sink' into the head and allow the third eyelid to come across the eyes.
However these are just possible causes, for more chance of a proper diagnosis I have to advise a vet check.

My cats are suffering from this, or rather some have had it and got better, some haven't had it yet, and one has it at the moment with a runny bottom. He's on some sort of yeast paste, and it's a bugger to try and get him to eat it. Tried hiding it in tuna, beef and his other favourite foods, but he's too smart and old to fall for that trick.

If it lasted about 3 weeks for your cats who have had it I would be highly suspicious of Torovirus (I assume it has been mentioned already though) hopefully the diarrhoea will clear up once the virus (if that is what is is!) has run its course so the yeast medication? (Not sure what that could be) won't be essential, unless his diarrhoea is really bad. HOGEPH said:
Looks like yeast, it's called Pro-kolin
It is a pre and prebiotic paste with a binding clay. To try and settle the gut flora. (no yeast) It is useful but not if you are struggling to give it! Cats don't enjoy it too much. You can get capsules instead. Bland diet maybe more helpful if you haven't tried yet.
You can get capsules that maybe easier to give.
