Wild Goats in Snowdonia
Discussion
Thinking of going to see / search for the wild (feral) goats in Snowdonia in March when the weather warms up a bit. Apparently, there are nearly 1000 of them.
Has anyone been and done something similar? How close can you get (without harming them or us)? Best places to go?

I was in Snowdonia near the Llanberris pass, just up from Beddgelert just before Christmas and we passed a small car park with several Land Rovers parked up, and about forty Welsh speaking farmers training their binoculars on a distant hillside.
I enquired what they were looking for and they said "Goats".

Nah, they were really looking for sheep. Were the farmers wearing wellies, if so, guilty I enquired what they were looking for and they said "Goats".

Thanks, folks.
Is it fairly easy to get close or closeish to the Great Orm goats (without distressing them, of course)?
Yes, very easy, you can do a couple of things, walk around the Great Orm or cable car it to the top (probably your best option unless you are feeling fit amd healthy )Is it fairly easy to get close or closeish to the Great Orm goats (without distressing them, of course)?

Doesn't um, the Llanberis pass go from Llanberis? Perhaps you mean The Watkins Path - just up from Beddgelert?
It was a car park/lay by on the left of the A498 between Beddgelert and Capel Curig, about a mile before the left turn that takes you up to the summit of the Llanberris pass. They didn't look like sheep sha**ers to me....no, definitely goats they were looking for.
