Ok the new puppy part talks for itself, but therapist?

Earlier this year Chloe was attacked by a dog, and needed multiple stitches.

As you can see, the physical damage was bad, but the mental damage was even worse.

She still loved her dog Wicket, but was afraid of all others. Then she shocked us, and asked if we could have another dog. And she would like a Jack Russell if possible.

Another dog was something we had been talking about before she was attacked, so we were happy to go along with this.

We soon found a litter of JRT x Patterdales. We went to see them, and we were chosen by one of the pups, she looks like a Patt, instead of a JRT, as some of the others in the litter did, but we were all ok with that.

We called her Skye.

Chloe was worried at first if Skye went near her face, but 4 weeks on, we are all getting along.

What a difference in Chloe here.

Have worked plenty Jack / Patterdales in the past.

Very loving dogs but with an truly hard streak running through them.

Most were not sociable, but in my case, all had been bred for working , so hardness was desirable.

Good luck.

My brother has a JRT/Patterdale cross (Buddy) and he is the sweetest dog smile

Skye looks adorable.

Well done to your daughter for being so brave.

One of our JRs has no fear of any dog, he's eaten rat poison, been hit by a Transit doing about 40mph and tried to take on our old Shetland pony (who was probably the worst tempered creature on earth), and is still here. If he know's someone is okay, he's completely soft and loving. Our other JR is pretty much daft and useless, except if he sees a rat/mouse, a switch goes and he's a killer.

Skye is now 13 weeks old.

I had several JRT's when I was growing up, I always worked them on rats.

Skye was a bit of an accident between the breeders pet Patterdale, and working JRT, so she was a bit of an unknown quantity.

She was introduced at 8 weeks to our Shih Tzu, 4 cats, and 2 rabbits. And so far all are doing well.

I appreciate her working background, but not sure I have the desire to rat her, when she also has to live with the children, and other pets.

If she shows a desire to work, or surplus energy, we will look at flyball, as our eldest has shown an interest in this.

She has been semi docked, and had her dew claws removed, we have all the paper work for this, so the breeder obviously thought ahead to the pups being worked, but that doesn't mean they have to do so.

House training was going well, but we have gone backwards over the last few days, we hope it is just a temporary set back.
