Thought id put up a few pics and info on a tank that re ignited my hobby of keeping some fish,

I have 3 of these tanks in total , 2 x 23l and this is the largest version that takes center in the living room.

All my tanks have been purchased second hand, picked up a 23l with conventional style lighting for £23. Bargain in my eyes.

I like these small tanks as the filter is amazing, once water is stable i never have had any water issues and there very easy to keep clean and maintain.

Ill post up some pics for now, nothing fancy on the fish front and the kids love the simplicity.

Above small fish is a bit of a strange one. I had a pair and unfortunately they started to nip each other and so i split them up. They weren't together very long and one became ill and so i kept in its own fluval edge 23l for a few weeks and it passed away.

I then inherited some fancy goldfish that were destined to be flushed down the toilet and so i stepped in and plonked them in the spare tank. I acclimatized them and over the duration of about 2 month i slowly brought them into other tanks as they were too big for the 23l tank.

All were fine apart from one which was obviously the alpha fish and it used to chase the white cloud minnows and so he was destined to stay in his own tank until something better could be done. He stayed there for a good 2 or 3 months as I was busy with house a house move and other things. I decided to gravel clean and clean some of the larger stones and noticed said small fry had been in the tank with fancy gold fish for some time.

The pair must have mated a long time back, laid eggs and literally a few months later he appears in a tank with a goldfish. Seems strange to me and thats the only explination i can offer. Said goldfish was quite old and possibly did not see him.

Strange eh.

Anyhow, he grew although very slowly and was re introduced to this tank about a month ago. All seem to get on and no problems to report.

The problem that I have with mine is that access is very poor. Finding bogwood with an interesting shape but a small enough size to fit through the hole is difficult. I find mine difficult to clean compared to conventional tanks, and if you ever want to get your hand in, you need to lower the water level first to prevent it overflowing outside of the small access hole.

It also restricts the fish you can put in a bit - no air gulpers, and butterflies/hatchets would probably have a tough time too.

But to be fair, yes they do look good as a solid water cube, so worth the hassle. I paid the full new price for mine and it still seems good value.
