Is this a Sparrow?

I took this picture in Malta of what to me looks like a Sparrow, but is it? I've looked at various types of Sparrow online but can't quite be sure. Any ornithologists out there?

Yes, that's a sparrow. I think it's a young tree sparrow, but that's more of a guess.

So a Sparrow isn't just a Sparrow! You've mentioned three types, all of which I found online too, but I can't be sure which one it is. I thought the little bit of yellow on the beak might give the game away, but I've seen nothing about this and perhaps the colour grows out. I guess it could be a juvenile, male or female of any of them!

It's a Spanish Sparrow.

I sent a picture to a friend who told me what the bird was and that the picture was taken in Malta hehe
