Anyone have one?

I'd like to know how far mine travels when out for a walk - wouldn't mind a GPS version depending on cost and needs to be bog proof...

Yeah, I've got a dogtracker nano which I've had for about 9 months and it's worked well. It automatically turns itself on with movement and then off after 10 mins of no movement so you don't have to do anything other than recharge it. I like it for peace of mind but it's also handy to know when the dog walker is taking him out and seeing where she goes. You can set a 'geofence' and then you get a notification on your phone when the dog goes outside of this zone.

It's fully waterproof, got a decent battery life and the app is well written. It costs £99 to buy and then anything from £6 to £10 a month to run depending on the package you get.

The only downside is it obviously doesn't work if you are out and about in an area where there is no phone signal coverage. The GPS is still working but it can't report the location back to you so I've been on a few walks in the countryside where it would have been no use at all.

It's not too bulky, I have it fastened to the outer strap of a ruffwear harness and Digby doesn't even seem to know it's there.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it and I'm about to get another one for my other dog.

Thanks.

Does it work with a phone app at all?
I've got Cyclemeter on my phone and was thinking of something simila.

Edit - just found it.
Looks great, but possibly overkill for my intended use

If you're still looking they have just posted up a special offer (not sure for how long).

I just ordered a 2nd one and saved quite a bit on the 2 year package. You also get an additional 10% off if you buy two.

I use one called Tractive. Its good and has a phone app, you can even make the unit flash an LED to find the dog at night. The weird thing about the app though is that it doesn't show where you are, only the dog. Which is fine if you're somewhere you know, but not so good otherwise.
