A very large Goose that has been kicked in the knackers?

Making a lot of noise and keeping me up, almost sounds distressed but not sure it is, "Barks" every 30 seconds, we get a lot of foxes, doesn't sound like one of those. All surrounding dogs are the small yappy types.

Not a lot to go on I will grant you but I am intrigued.

Similar, but it was almost like a goose honking but with a deeper initial sound but a higher pitch end, like an overweight asthmatic who has walked up a hill trying to bark like a dog.

It's not the first time I have heard it so will investigate another night.

Could be, some YouTube clips sound similar, it's a green area but deer are rare.

Another vote for squirrel. In the morning particularly they can be noisy buggers.

If it was a fat asthmatic with a penchant having his Jacobs stamped on then possibly....

Possibly a Heron, the sound of a blue heron is quite similar although don't think that is a species I the UK, don't think it was a squirrel.

I didn't think you were replying to my suggestion somehow. Would be hilarious if they did turn up though.

Try Grey Heron, we have quite a few in the UK. The can often be found away from water to.

It's boring fox, typical of this time of year when the grown cubs are dispersing.
