Anyone else suffering a deluge of these little critters?

Its as if every bit of grass around has erupted with hundreds of them.

We get them in their thousands. Do you notice how they all fly off in the same direction when they finally decide to go.

They all head south from our garden.

Had a few a couple weeks ago was expecting a deluge but nothing so maybe they were a bit premature?

I love seeing them, they are harmless and it just signifies a certain time of year bit like Daddy long legs! I remember one year flying ants swarming the town centre and people walking around waving arms, hankies, papers etc I wasn't bothered (was,a youngster and thought it all hilarious smile

I remember sitting on a bench overlooking the sea in Mojacar, Almeria. The weather was just right for these little creatures to venture out.
As they did so, taking to the air for the first time, half a dozen sparrows were picking them off, returning to the prom wall to wait their turn. I don't think any got away.

I hate flying ant day as it generally means the mornings start to get much darker soon afterwards. frown

It's pretty amazing how they can produce a product that can fly unaided. It's not something we'll ever achieve.

Everyone sat around me at work has had ant infestations e.g. near kitchen or conservatory windows. I applied a teeny bit of powder around the nesting sites and they disappeared after a day or two once the queen got f8cked. I don't like using the sugar granules as apparently they are bad for bees, their distant but more attractive cousins.
