Found a baby bird. Anything I can do?
Discussion
I was in my conservatory and noticed something wriggling on the roof. A closer look revealed it was a baby bird. I have no idea where it's come from, I have no nests on my roof. It has some feathers but it's mostly just skin.
I'm guessing it will die? I fished it off the roof with a broom and have wrapped it in a towel, but it isn't looking too good. I don't even know how far it's fallen.

OH and I rescued a baby blackbird that had fallen out of its nest and was getting soaked through in the rain. We put it into an old fleece hat lined with kitchen towel and fed it chopped up worms (OH had to do that). We were lucky in that we lived not far from Secret World in Somerset, so we were able to take it to them. It might be worth finding out whether there are any wildlife rehabilitation places near you.
Keep him warm, like cotton wool in a small thin box and sat on something warm.
Not hot but warm.
Dry dog food soaked In water and fed every couple hours.
You need to be quite firm tapping their beaks to get them to open to eat, but it does work. Tweasers or forceps are ideal.
I found one younger than yours a few years back, it lived but was a royal pita. Great experience though that I don't regret. I called him Simon.
Good luck to you both

I rescued a blackbird chick a few years ago - a couple of them had fallen out of the nest. One was dead, the other was soaking wet and cold. Dried it and warmed it up with a hair drier and then when it was looking perkier deposited it and a £20 donation at a rescue centre. They got some sugar solution straight down its beak and reckoned it would make it.
