Mrs Blackbird has been going at it all day and yesterday and the day before and probably tomorrow too. Is it a phase she's going through or is it a bit nuts? It's getting to the point where we cant sit in the garden or have the doors open it's so annoying.

You have my sympathy but wait until it's been doing it for 6 weeks like our resident Blackbird....

Then we have a love sick sparrow who sits in the gutter from dusk till dawn calling for a mate (lovely looking lad but won't take the hint...)

Then there's the crows and pigeons.....it's anything but quiet living in the countryside, and seems to have been much worse than last year!

If you want Mrs Blackbird to shut up you should do what she's telling you, and get the hell out of her garden!

It could be the alarm call for a fox/cat/squirrel/you and she will pretty much go on until the threat has gone.

They sometimes also do it to protect resources from other blackbirds - like when they take possession of my cherry tree when the fruit is ripe.

If it's less severe than an alarm call, it might just be the contact call for a fledgling or mate foraging nearby.

She woke me up at quarter to five this morning but has been quiet since. See what she's like this evening when we're sat in the garden.
