Our wonderful boxer Luna ,

is in the process of delivering her first litter ...........the wife is doing a sterling job , while i'm 3,000 miles away stuck at work , no help at all and very frustrated.

last week we took her to the local vets, who were recommended by some good friends ........vet had a good look at her , sucked his teeth , hmm , i don't think she's going to have very many puppies i can feel two , i would really recommend a scan , we had already planned to do this , The scan was done the next day , the nurse said i can see three ........possibly four !

role on tonight , i'm on skype with the missus .....Shes had 3 .....hold on here comes the fourth , a boy 3 girls two of them bob tails

an hour later ......shes had six , and shes pushing again .. on the 7th was having difficulty , the vests asked her to come in for a check up , disappointed they could n't come to the house ..
scan revealed another 3 !!!

she has just delivered her 9th ...and is properly knackered bless her .. it could be touch and go with the 10th
so far 7 reds and two pure whites
wife did say they only scanned one side of her !!

so the wait continues wife is going to stay up all night with her , has emergency number for the vet , in case its she needs a CS, trouble is they want her to driver over and its 16 miles away , i'm very worried about that !!
more updates / photos as soon as i hear more .....i need coffee or a stiff drink , but we are dry out here !!

wife thinks there could be more ...........

how on earth did the first scan only show 3 ?? and the vet seriously thought there was only 2 , bit baffled about that

Scans can't give accurate numbers, we always xrays if more accurate numbers needed.

Much better to take to vet than have vet visit in case the difficulties turn into emergency surgery. Limited facilities to help in an owners home.

Good luck with it all. By Bob tail I assume you mean no tail, not usual in boxers is it?

years a go most boxers had their tails docked. Naturally they have long tails , this practice was prohibited in the UK , but still popular in Europe.

http://bobtailboxers.com/the-cross-corgi-ex-boxer

bob tails are boxers with naturally short tails , the history behind this in the early 90's a breeder bred a boxer with a corgi , this resulted in a boxer with a short tail ,if you follow the blood line and a parent is a bob tail , you will probably have several pups in the litter with naturally short tails ,Our Luna has a long tail ,however the sire we used to mate with her was a bob tail.

Corgi x boxer whatever next! Guess they thought it could be a way of getting round the docking rules?

I knew they were docked in the past never met any born without a tail before though.

Can't wait for pics, going to be a busy household for the next few weeks

That article suggests an awful lot of work just to have a dog be born with no tail!! We are strange aren't we smile

Congrats on your large delivery mate...
I'm looking for a boxer pup from end of July onwards and wondered if all the boys are taken? If not, can you advise on your location, feel free to PM, I'm in Scotland but prepared to travel for right pup...
Cheers
