I know collies are clever buggers but how, just how?

Amazing what they can do. This was my great, great Uncle's dog...

I'd love to believe it but surely it can't be true can it? Our collie pup struggles to find his way out of his bed!
Perhaps the dog got lost and the new owners hadn't re registered the microchip so someone drove it home. Or nearly home at least. No idea why you'd do that without contacting anyone first though....

I'm sceptic, about the whole tail TBH. Perhaps the dog got lost and the new owners hadn't re registered the microchip so someone drove it home. Or nearly home at least. No idea why you'd do that without contacting anyone first though....
I know of a couple of pets who have done something similar though not over such a long distance. In both cases their owners had recently moved house and the pets wandered back to the old house. First case was a basset hound that made its way from one end of the Malvern Hills to the other. Only a few miles, but a good effort for a fat knacker with comedy legs. The other was a lot more surprising. A mate's cat walked a good 20 miles to its old house having only seem the journey from old to new house once from a car.

This is more understandable. I watched the "secret life of cats" documentary it highlighted how far some cats do patrol on a daily basis. I reckon our dog would be able to find his way home from circa 5 miles away, this is his normal stomping ground after all, he seems to know it pretty well.
